Implementation of an Ecological Reserve in Babícora Lagoon,

The Babícora Lagoon, located on the foothills of the Western Sierra Madre in western Chihuahua, receives the highest wintering concentrations of Sandhill Crane (Grus canadensis) and Arctic geese. Pronatura Noroeste’s Bird Conservation program managed to create the first Ecological Reserve in this wetland by establishing a Limited Use Agreement for 20 years to protect 6,674 hectares of the Nicolás Bravo colony, and therefore promoting the protection of habitats for these birds.
