The base flow supports life in the Colorado river delta

After the successful collaborative effort between the United States and Mexico for the release of 105,000 acre-feet of water between March and May 2014 for the restoration of the Colorado River Delta, a coalition of organizations that includes Pronatura Noroeste, has been able to maintain a permanent flow of water in portions of the river.

Since then, the so-called base flow has had a positive impact on the ecosystem in the Colorado River Delta, where it is now possible to see reforested areas, the successful germination of different species of native flora, and the return of animal species such as the beaver, wildcat and many birds.

The water released into the riparian corridor of the Colorado River reversed the downward trend in plant biomass that had troubled the delta for 13 years
