Clarita, Pepe, and Willy, three Yuma Ridgway’s Rails located in the Cienega de Santa Clara, were fitted with a satellite transmitter to record their movements and habitat use.

Tracking animals in the wild is an effective tool for environmental conservation, as it allows us to better understand habitat use and migratory movements, as well as the identification of important areas for each species.

The very first Red Knot tagged by UABCS Bird Laboratory 15 years ago was identified this week at the Gulf of Santa Clara

In the distant month of October 2006, the staff of the Bird Laboratory of the Autonomous University of Baja California Sur (UABCS) banded for the first time a Red Knot (Calidris canutus roselaari) in the facilities of the Exportadora de Sal SA de CV, in Guerrero Negro, Baja California Sur. It was for banding purposes, placing a color flag with the code 000 on the bird´s leg.
