Octavio Aburto Oropeza

Octavio is a marine biologist (Universidad Autónoma de Baja California Sur, 1995), with a Master´s in sciences and a specialty in the management of marine resources (1998). He is currently completing his doctorate in marine biology at Scripps Oceanographic Institute of La Jolla, California and is a candidate for National Investigator for the National Board of Science and Technology.

As a professor, he has given courses in Marine Ecology and the Ecology of Fish and Marine Amniotes at UABCS. He has carried out all his research in the Gulf of California, focusing primarily of reef fish and their fisheries, publishing his results in national and international journals. In addition, Octavio is an outstanding underwater photographer. He has worked with Pronatura Northwest since 2004.
